Fontana di Montuzza
The Montuzza fountain was built in 1938 to celebrate the dictator Benito Mussolini's visit to Trieste. It was originally intended as a temporary installation and was supposed to be taken down at the end of the celebrations. However, despite not being in working order, it survived both the second World War and its aftermath. And aren't we the lucky ones!!!

Oh, very Ann Rand.
The gait of the lone figure and the shadows are wonderful, Rob.
Sorry, Rob. Need to qualify that.
Ayn Rand, not Ann Rand the children's story teller.
I never really liked the style "Mussolini" and not for politics, it's just "cold". Makes for some interesting pictures, anyway. It's amazing that a "temporary" fountain that does not even work, has survived so long and in such good conditions !
Good job for the photo. The guy walking across breaks the lines and adds interest to it.
For once I can say: What a terrible picture! (Nothing to do with the quality of the photograph of course, that's fine as ever.)
The non-working fountain seems a fitting memorial, somehow. I like the posture you've caught in the passer-by. He seems a little bent down -- oppressed by the thing. Very nice light contrast.
Quite! hmmm...
thank you very much for sharing this foto...
I agree that the presence and posture of the figure really define the shot.
where you come from!
