Scala dei giganti

This winding staircase is part of a monumental flight of steps leading up to Colle di San Giusto (Saint Just Hill) from Piazza Goldoni (Goldoni Square). It's a tough climb up, but the view over the city is a worthy reward at the end of it.

Lovely perspective! And the red vines add such a wonderful spot of color to the composition!

Thanks for dropping in on RuT...

This evocative treatment of the stairway handles the light very well...gives it a special luminance.

Welcome to CDP.

The contrast of the vine on the stairs makes a lovely picture. How many stairs to the top?

256 Steps !
This "scalinata" is one of many secret jewels of Trieste. Yes, tough climb, with a rewarding view of Trieste. What is interesting is the architecture of it, and there are many interesting details that are often lost to the casual passer-by ( also because they are trying to catch their breath...) A Really interesting "nugget of Trieste".
Well done !

I love the lines in this photo. The colors in the leaves make it as close to perfect as one can get.
Cheers

That's a lot of steps and very steep too! But I would definitely love to walk them ... A very beautiful place and the curve created by this angle makes a very nice photo.
