Blog Action Day 2009 - climate change

"Move closer to work" is one of the 10 Solutions for Climate Change suggested by an old article in Scientific American.

Transportation is the second leading source of greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S. But it doesn't have to be that way. One way to dramatically curtail transportation fuel needs is to move closer to work, use mass transit, or switch to walking, cycling or some other mode of transport that does not require anything other than human energy. There is also the option of working from home and telecommuting several days a week.

Hope the whole world realises the facts about global warming and understands the importance of curbing down the pollution! :-)

Both my husband and I work from home. You can't move any closer to work than that. More and more people are joining our ranks each day. We also live in a small town where we walk everywhere and rarely take our car out. It's rare to see a traffic jam in Brattleboro. It usually happens when people come from out of state as visitors.

None of which the Philippine government supports through infrastructure or incentives! It can't even get old, smoke-belching cars off the road! :(

I'm glad you were able to join this year's Blog Action Day. I found out too late and didn't have an image ready. I have to keep the date in mind so I can join beginning next year.

Just for curiosity's sake. The road sign is in Slovene and translates approximately in "Ham factory location. Checks on clean air". I like the idea that someone is checking on the air in the area where prosciutto hams are being dry-cured. Has anyone seen something similar in the famed San Daniele or Parma ham areas?

Interesting sign - perfect for BlgActDay.
I knew it was Slovene but would of had to look up the words...but prsut should of been obvious.
