The castle's elegant spiral staircase designed by Andrea Palladio (1508 – 1580), a Venetian architect widely considered the most influential architect in the history of Western architecture.
Here's a link to other works by this ingenious architect (it's in Spanish but photos are universal)

Hypnotic... Great shot!
Wow! It really is lovely, with those oval curves and layers of light. I suppose he gave his name to the "Palladian" style we sometimes see over here.
That's gorgeous! And the light really makes it look like a nautilus! Fantastic photo, Rob!
Stunning, Rob. Such a beautiful staircase and beautifully photographed too.
Bellissima Rob! Ma stiamo giù guardando su, vero? Mi gira la testa! :-)
Duino Castle is one of my fave spot around Trieste. Great shot, bravo! :)
Un inchino davanti a chi la scala la pensò ed a chi la scala la scattò...
:-)
Una foto eccellente di una scala magnifica!!
Sembra un'enorme conchiglia. Bella foto :)
Great shot of this wonderful staircase Rob. Staircases can be great photo material as illustrated here.
At first glance I wasn't sure which way I was looking, up, down, to the side... great composition.
I admired this photo for a long time when you posted it - sorry I left without leaving a comment.
The photo is mezmerising in its beauty. The way the spiral leads the viewer to the top, the color and the lighting. One of your best and you are though to beat!
Gorgeous shot!
