Wärtsilä´s history in Italy is closely associated with Grandi Motori Trieste (GMT), a company that began its operations in the early 1970s, by designing, manufacturing and servicing 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines for marine and industrial applications. 

Wärtsilä Italia is part of Finnish Wärtsilä Corporation, one of the major diesel and gas engine manufacturers in the world focussed on products and solutions as well as services for the shipping and power generation markets. 

The premises in Trieste extend over an area of 550,000 square metres, of which 150,000 are covered. In Trieste, Wärtsilä today has suitable facilities able to host several types of 4-stroke medium- and large-sized engines.

The flash of nature (#1)

Today is the last day of "The flash of nature" exhibition held at the "Salone degli incanti", featuring paintings, photographs, sculptures, videos and installations by 82 contemporary artists from 18 different countries. Through a sequence of sublime images, it has presented symbols of the force and the beauty of Mother Nature at this time of environmental uncertainty and climate change.
