Madonna of Health
The day dedicated to the Madonna of Health, 21 November, is associated with the heavy epidemic of cholera that hit Trieste and the Veneto region in 1849. Every effort was made by the health authorities to stop the spread of the disease that was already killing hundreds of victims, but to no avail. In that tragic period. the faith of the people of Trieste looked to the intercession of the Virgin, obtaining her help: the cholera stopped in the first days of November of the same year.
On 21 november 1849, after a high pontifical mass celebrated by Bishop Bartolomeo Legat, there was a huge procession, expressing the whole city's thanks to the Madonna.

Tergesteo
The restoration of the Palazzo Tergesteo has been completed for a few months now, but very few shops are open, and very few passersby venture down the still bare and unadorned gallery. There's a feeling of crisis around here.
